Confessions - Sunday Novembre 12

Hot Docs

6pm-8.30pm

Gérald Gallant was brought up by a tough and severe mother who did not hesitate to belittle him in the eyes of everyone. The stuttering man in fragile health now leads a peaceful existence in a quiet neighborhood with his wife. Yet this uneventful facade hides serious sins. Indeed, Gérald Gallant is one of Montreal's most prolific hitmen. His roadmap includes no less than twenty-eight murders and fifteen attacks, mostly bikers and high-ranking mafiosos. Gallant also works in conjunction with the police and doesn't hesitate to sell out those around him.

Critiques

Sober and efficient, in keeping with the tradition of the genre, Confessions is a well-acted, solidly produced film that will delight those who are fascinated by the portraits of criminals.
Marc-André Lussier – La Presse

Still, the whole is dynamically staged by the director of Babine, in a series of well-arranged flashbacks.
Louis-Paul Rioux – Media Film

Bringing to the screen the fascinating story of hitman Gérald Gallant, Luc Picard offers, with Confessions, a film about gangsters as we like them: captivating, moving and very entertaining!
Maxime Demers – Journal de Montréal

Well played and with several technical assets to its credit, Confessions is an effective detective thriller to be placed in the category of quality mainstream films.
